I went with my brother to pick up his car. He did most of the paperwork online so it was an exspress pick up. We were able to test drive and inspect the car. Throughout the process Cynthia helped him tremendously. She was very informative and polite when dealing with him. Overall this was an excellent experience. Thanks again to Cynthia for helping him out, it means alot.❤️

Smooth and all staff were helpful even if they were not involved. The person who gave me a quotation on my car was quick. The business office gave me clear instructions as to what I needed to provide if we accepted the offer. The price offer was attractive enough that we came back the next day to accept it. The person from the business office was equally quick even though she had to process the transaction for a car that was registered in another state and the title was in a trust. She was very patient with me.

I came into CarMax today to assist my parents in selling their car to CarMax. For the most part, CarMax is one of the places to sell you car if you do not want to go through the private seller process. If you do a trade-in at the dealer, you will not get much, but CarMax will generally give you a much higher and reasonable price on your car. As for buying a car, the prices are generally a little higher than if you shop around and haggle with a used car dealer. The price for buying a car is firm. The nice thing about buying at CarMax is that they do fully detail their cars and do full inspections/servicing of their cars prior to putting on the lot to sell. Today, we had a good experience. My sister had scheduled the appointment on the wrong day, but fortunately they weren’t busy yet and there was only 1 person ahead of us. Everyone we dealt with in this process were very nice. I did take 1 star off due to the selling process took a little longer at this location. I have sold 2 other cars personally at 2 different locations and the selling process took less steps and was a little faster. From the time they started the appraisal process to the time we got the check took about 45 minutes.

6/23/26 Update: I have finally received my repaired vehicle back today. Unfortunately, CarMax was unable to repair my vehicle themselves and instead had to send my vehicle to another local repair shop to complete the service. In total, my car took 2 and a half weeks to be returned to me (2 weeks after receiving the parts). During that 2 and a half weeks, I incurred almost $2400 in rental car expenses. So far, I have only been promised the reimbursement from MaxCare of $280 and they waived my $450 deductible. I did end up reaching out to corporate and was paired up with a Customer Relations Specialist who has been working with me. I am hoping CarMax does the right thing and reimburses me as the delay in my repairs was completely in their control and my car should/could have been repaired in the 7 day time period they had. I do fear, had I not advocated for myself regularly, my car would have taken longer than the 2 and a half weeks it took which would have costed me much more than it already has. Original Post: At my last oil change, I was informed that my vehicle had a significant oil leak that needed repair. I scheduled an appointment for June 5, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at CarMax in Fairfield. After spending the entire day at the dealership and not leaving until around 4:30 p.m., I was told by my service advisor, Brandon, that everything had been approved by MaxCare and that parts would be ordered. I was advised the parts were expected by Wednesday and that my vehicle would likely be ready by Thursday or Friday. Unfortunately, my rental request had not been approved by the end of the day, so I had to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle, which, because it was a graduation weekend, was a process in itsself. Today is June 17, 2026. I have spent more than $1,500 on rental cars and still have no clear timeline for when my vehicle will be repaired. I continue to get the runaround from the service department. I've repeatedly been told that, due to call-offs, my vehicle couldn't be worked on and would be pushed to the next day. Yesterday, Brandon informed me they were coordinating with another repair shop and hoped they would be able to fix the oil leak, but he was unable to provide any estimate on when that might happen. What has made this experience even more frustrating is my inability to speak with management. I've called multiple times and have been left on hold for extended periods without ever reaching anyone. CarMax strongly promotes MaxCare and encourages customers to use its service department by offering a $50 discount on the deductible. However, that $50 savings has cost me far more in rental expenses and weeks without my vehicle. My experience has been that once they have your vehicle, there is little sense of urgency, and other appointments appear to take priority while your car sits waiting for repairs. I will not be using CarMax's service department again. I do want to note that my vehicle purchasing experience was excellent. The sales team was incredible throughout the process, and I would still consider purchasing another vehicle from CarMax in the future. Unfortunately, the service experience has been the complete opposite.

If i could give less stars i would. Recently totaled my truck and was in the process of finding new residence. Insurance payed me out and I transfered necessary documents to new address but haven't received anything except my insurance bill. I went through the pre-qualification process and put in the information and docs and was good, so i paid shipped a vehicle to Fairfield. Going in the lender had a problem with insurance bill and my past statements is my old address but its in same area and bank cant print out a new statement because they are generated by the branch. I called up my phone company because it states under the guidelines that this is an acceptable doc, and I placed an order on a tablet just so I can get a document that I receive mail at this residence. Back and forth for days and very poor communication with hours between calls i was denied and denied. 4500 down and so many proofs that I live here they just didnt want to make the sale. This place is trash and I dont see how I have money, got pre-qualified, paid to have car shipped, get proper docs and I still get denied?? Scam over shipping and I dont doubt someone was trying to sell it while I was trying to buy it. Why would I get denied with money, credit, and proofs? They are scammers and the banks they work with are trash.
