Tom Young is the salesman who helped me and he is super laid back, pleasant to talk with, if you want no BS and laid back he is the guy to see. I bought my used car here and been extremely happy with it car came from Alaska where they dont use salt so I had zero rust underneath on my new used car.
Tom the manager clearly said on the phone that is nothing wrong the minivan. The only problem is slide door hard to close. He stated that the minivan does not need any repairs. He also said that I would not disappointed if I buy that minivan. I’m like sweet I go buy that minivan. I drove 5hrs from my house to that dealership. I got there I was really disappointed. The minivan has broken windshields, hood dent, paint fade, and broken frame, etc. I have to drive all the way back home for another 5hrs. As a dealership you guy should be honest to customer. Why bother to waste customer time. Why don’t you guy tell the customer the truth about the vehicle. Why you guy have to lie and wasted customer time for. 5hrs of driving was useless for me. Thank you Tom dealership for wasting my 5hrs of driving for the minivan. The picture that they post on their website show the minivan is really clean and look really pretty. When I got there; I have nothing to say. Just come back home.
We purchased a car from Tom’s Auto Sales and not even a week after the purchase, it was clear the car was not drivable. We let their mechanic know about the issues, and he even said he’d drive the car to California. But less than a week later, it died and needed to be towed. Trust and Assurance Broken:Before we bought the car, I directly asked Tom, "What if the car breaks down or isn’t drivable in a week?" He assured me, saying, "We’ve been in business for over 40 years, so we’re doing something right. We’ll take care of you." That gave me confidence to proceed, but unfortunately, that promise wasn’t kept. Within a week, the car was back in their shop twice, sitting for two weeks total. Misleading Pricing Tactics:They claimed the car was originally over $6,000 and had been reduced to $3,600, implying a big discount. However, when I checked the car’s history, it had only been on their lot for a short time, so the “price drop” was misleading. We were also told the car was inspected and now we were told it wasnt. Theres no way we would've purchased a car that wasnt inspected. Additional Costs and Mechanical Issues: -Brake and Rotor Replacement: We paid out of pocket to replace all brake pads and rotors. Afterward, we found out the rear brakes were only at 30%, so we had to fix them again. -Strut Replacement: We had the struts replaced at our own cost due to the shaking issue at higher speeds. -Door Latch and Other Repairs: We paid to fix the door latch and addressed other small issues that kept arising. -Rack and Pinion -Gasket -and Carburetor Issues: The mechanic mentioned he would clean out the carburetor for us and that it was possible that was the cause for delay in acceleration. Total Costs: The money we’ve put into this car has already matched or exceeded its value. We expected some issues with an older vehicle, but not a cascade of problems within such a short time. Inadequate Resolution and Poor Customer Service:When I called Tom directly to seek a resolution—offering to trade the car in or have them buy it back—I was repeatedly talked over and told they didn’t want to discuss it. I told him this isnt good customer service. I told him I would update the review to a positive one if we can amke it right but there was no valid recourse accepted. He treats you great when you buy. but not when you ask for integrity/solutions of their product. I offered to trade the car in, do a buyback or fix the issues their affliated mechanic acknowledged. They only offered $300, which is nowhere near the cost of repairs. Ultimately, dead end. I grew up on the East Side and knew the owners family member. Most East Siders struggle financially and car issues only cause more hardship for families. You'd hope a car would last them longer than 2 weeks. This car isnt safe to drive, even after the money we put into it. My mom who is retirement age has many medical issues and now is walking to Boradlawns, hurting and rests all day when she walks back home, while her new car sits. Im in a different state and cant help her, and no one else will help her. This breaks my heart.
Lots of lower-budget cars but when you look up the KBB values they’re asking outrageous prices for poor condition vehicles. Looked at an Elantra with sun visors that wouldn’t go up, check engine light on, loud exhaust, and overall idled crappy. Didn’t even actually test drive it because of the idle. When I asked the guy about the check engine light he said ‘oh it’s just a sensor’ … well great what sensor? What would it cost to fix it? Be up front about the junk you’re trying to sell people! They wanted $4,995 for a car that, with all the issues, was probably worth $2,000 at most. 🤦🏻♀️🙄
I recently bought a vehicle from there and had to return it within days to replace the radiator. I also asked about it stalling but was assured it was due to the radiator overheating. No, the transmission needs to be replaced as well as the brakes, the AC parts and some other stuff. It is a complete trash vehicle. I will never use any of Tom’s dealership locations again.
