Cheap Auto Rental

Purchased a Jeep from Cheap Auto Rental and it was an incredibly easy, fair, and honest process. A day or two after I noticed an issue and called them, not only did they tell me to bring it in without questions to fix, but due to a family emergency I went a week without bringing the car in. Not only did they not forget, they called me to asking if the problem was resolved and if I needed it fixed still. I can't imagine there are any other dealers going out of their way to ensure things worked out. I was so impressed with them and their deals that I am buying two more cars. For their prices and payment arrangements, I would be pressed to find a place better.

This is our honest review of this rental company in Wallingford CT, as the name states its a cheap/affordable rental company N.B they are not Enterprise or AVIS etc if you are looking for a car to get you from point A to B this is the perfect place if you don't have a credit card and you need a car you can use your debit card to pay to hold the car which is $300 dollars you will get the car to use at 100 miles per day, once you are done you take back the car and that's when you pay for what you use its very simple so if you're strap for cash this is the place if money is coming in late you can have the car to use and pay when your done using it. The Owner Lou is a gentle man very good customer service straight forward and we appreciate that we were in a jam we needed a car we got the car clean it up wipe it down and use it again this is not Enterprise, Hurtz or AVIS so please don't go here expecting that, you need a car to get you from A to B that's all for cheap this is the place Thank you again Lou

Lew and his crew are good guys, but it's important to note that Cheap Auto Rental does not rent out vehicles anymore - they are only a used car dealership now. Would suggest changing the sign out front and making it more clear on the website.

Hi Lew, I noticed you respond to your reviews. I purchased a car from you on 8/5/26, which was test drived for no more than 10 minutes. I still purchased the car because everything seemed ok. When I drove the car back home, which is about a 30 minute drive I noticed the car was making strange, popping noises, and jolts everytime it shifts. I'm highly concerned for our safety and took the time to reach out to you over the phone not even 24 hrs after the purchase, and you were utterly dismissive, and blatantly told me there was nothing wrong with the car, instead of having me bring it in to verify. All I wanted was for you to take a look at it, but instead you were rude and dismissive. Hopefully per the contract we signed, that states we have a 30 day warranty, we can resolve this in a civil way. Thank you, and have a nice day. While some of what you're saying is true, after you explained the jeep wasn't ready, I tried to express my concerns about the car, and you were very dismissive. if the noise were something small I wouldn't be bothering you, but it's not. As a business owner, if a customer comes to you with a safety concern, rather than dismissing them, you should first verify. I don't expect the car to be brand new, but it definitely shouldn't sound and shake the way it does. I will be calling you to make an appointment and hope you're not as rude and dismissive as you were the first time I tried communicating with you. And in terms of my "history" in the past, you were paid the full down payment when we switched the car, let's not forget that. This is what I was sold. More than $1800 down!! And he swore nothing was wrong with it!!

I bought a 2013 gmc terrain from them on Jan 7,2026 I told them the first day it had a smell coming from it and it needed a replace of the back driver door he said no problem. He was nice until Lou got his money and Carl is the best worker there. So I bought the car and we made an appointment for the following week. I called Lou and told him something was wrong with the car a week later and he said bring it back but he will fix when he has time. The car wouldn’t move at all it was loud and we went to a shop and had it tested and they gave us a list of 36 things wrong with it I texted Lou and told him and than called him he said bring it in . So we found out it was the timing chain, the fuel pump and the sensors the crankshaft camp shaft and the VVT so the parts had somebody change them and they’re spending almost 3 grand to fix the car almost but then we found out it was definitely the time chain and the fuel pump and I called into Lou and he said bring it down bring it down and I said I don’t have any more AAA to get it down there and I couldn’t bring it down and then he said he was gonna have me served with papers because he said he didn’t have time to fix it at the time and then I came home from work and he had my car picked up by a tow truck and then tells me I owe $600 plus the repossession fee the payment of $50 a week and I told him he couldn’t come on private property, but I came home from work in the car was gone and then I called him and then he sends me a video about the car saying what he changed but I was telling him the whole time what was wrong with the car. no, he asked me to pay $600 plus a repossession fee and I asked him for proof of what it cost. He said that he paid the people cash to have it towed so he can’t show me proof but now he pick some of the car and wants me to pay more and more and more even though my plates are on it. He’s driving around in it and refuses to give me my stuff so I have contacted lawyers to take care of all this because he is refusing to do his job. You can’t charge somebody if they can’t drive the car and it was sitting
