I am an older woman and was not comfortable buying a car from a dealership. I had bought and sold cars twice before from CarMax. So, decided to do it that way again. Wow, so easy! I got top $$ for my used car. And easily wrote a check for the difference for the CarMax car. The entire process including a test drive took 2 hrs. Last time I bought a car at a dealership it was at least 8 hrs. I found the car online and had it shipped to Austin from the Houston area for no cost and no obligation. Toby answered all my questions and explained everything and was very personable. Recommend him and CarMax Austin South highly.

We received an online offer ahead of time, and when we brought the cars in, their team spent about 15 minutes inspecting them and honored the exact same price—no surprises, no games. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, everything took right around an hour. The staff was efficient, professional, and respectful of our time, which we really appreciated. To top it off, they even arranged a Lyft ride to get us home, which was an unexpected but thoughtful touch. I purchased a 2018 BMW X3 M40i from CarMax Austin. From day one, the vehicle had service lights on the dashboard, an inoperable tailgate, and oil and brake fluid both overdue. I raised these issues with staff three times at point of sale. No action was taken by staff to remedy the issues. Within three weeks, additional failures emerged: a pressurized coolant leak, water intrusion front and rear, a rough idle, and a leaking washer fluid pump all within the warranty period. When I called to schedule service, I was directed to an app that cannot schedule appointments. The representative I spoke with on that Saturday, my last opportunity before expiration, made no attempt to schedule an appointment or offer any solution. My warranty expired as a result. The General Manager took no accountability and refused to honor my documented attempt to schedule service before the warranty expired. Additional management declined to help as well. CarMax's 125-point inspection is either not performed or completely ignored. I am requesting CarMax honor the warranty I attempted to exercise and repair all documented failures. My experience with the staff is exceptional but the car that I purchased is and was a lemon. I had two vehicles that I had issues with where one transmission was shot not a week of having it. Then the second vehicle I got from CarMax the motor went out not even two years of having the car and they stated to me nothing could be done.
