One of the employees (my friend’s dad) was so sweet, super friendly! Definitely would buy from them!
We got our 2014 used escape in December of 2017. Yup it hasn’t even been a year and I’m regretting even buying this vehicle. And the first sign should have been when we met with the seller and the car wasn’t even on the lot cause one of the employess had it and pulled up late to the meet smoking a cigarette inside. There was lots of cosmetic things like scratches and what not that had to be updated. Just a week after having the vehicle we were traveling for the holidays between St. Louis and Chicago. We noticed the hood of the car was shaking lifting up and down. We pulled over to find that there wasn’t even a bolt holding the hood to the front end. We had to keep driving until we could stop to try to find pieces to fix the hood. Currently I have a vehicle with the hood that flew off because the bolts were stripped from the hood not having the proper pieces to begin with. Just over the summer so not even 6 months later we had a continuous slow leak. At first we thought it was going off due to the cold but once it got warm out we obviously knew there was a leak in the tire. When we checked to see where the leak was we found out there was a plug on the sidewall. That vehicle should have never been sold with a plug in sidewall. Our vehicle also developed a shake, keep in mind this was a practically brand new vehicle, 1 previous owner with low mileage and nothing bad on the report. This is our second vehicle and doesn’t get driven a lot. So we know it’s not where and tear on the vehicle. The list goes on and on. Point of the matter is don’t buy a vehicle from these people. You will just end up putting in the work that should be done before the vehicle is purchased.
Simply put, buying from Brotherhood Motors was the worst car-buying experience of my life. I bought my Nissan on a Monday, after getting it checked out by a garage in St. Louis. By Friday, less than 200 miles into driving it, it was completely broken down with a headgasket failure almost destroying the engine. As I was in the middle of Illinois, far from St. Louis, I took it to a local Nissan dealership, who diagnosed it and gave me an estimate. The dealership, completely surprised how a car so new could have had something go so wrong, called Brotherhood Motors. The first words they said were "oh, it's not warranteed" and hung up. Upon getting back to St. Louis, my father and I went into Brotherhood, to talk it over. The owner was sickeningly nice "oh, of course we'll pay half the repair cost. I'm a father, and I'll treat your daughter as if she were my own." So, the car's still in Illinois getting fixed; my father and I sent him the bill, fully expecting him to honor his word. He never got back to us, so we repeatedly emailed and called. Finally, he deigned to get back to us and claimed that he could have fixed it for less than half the cost of the dealership, and offered us a pittance, claiming that "I said I'd pay half of MY repair costs," which was never a stipulation before (and frankly, the price he quoted is completely absolutely impossible- it wouldn't even cover the cost of parts., much less the labor. By buying a car from Brotherhood, we were screwed out of roughly $1500. Don't make the same mistake of buying from someone with so little ethics.
