Portage Motor Sales

When I went to purchase my car that I have had for under a year, I had problems with it a few months into it. The auto theft on the car would keep my car from recognizing car and it wouldn't start. I had to get replacement keys as the ones I was given when purchasing weren't actual Ford keys. I also was NOT given a history on my car and come to find out it was in an accident where insurance company titled it "totaled". According to HG.org, a car dealership must disclose certain information, like if the car was totaled and the insurance company signed it off to a salvage title for being non repairable this must be clear to the buyer- it was NOT made clear to me. When I asked if the seller had the history they said "no, its so hard to come by these days".... find that hard to believe when the carfax had information very easily. Ive had other issues with this car and for what its worth, don't buy a car from here, don't waste the time or the money. Oh! I also forgot to mention that even with it being an as-is company, they should still clean the inside of the car or try and help with mechanical issues if it happens so soon. my car was a mess inside when I bought it. I also forgot to mention that they buy cars from auctions and don't fix them before selling them.

This was my daughters first experience car shopping on her own. She spent a lot of time and money to do her research and take the vehicle to an independent mechanic to have it inspected. She discovered that it had 4 mismatched tires, needed the transmission serviced (very common with Nissans) and that a fuse had been removed more than likely to keep the battery that needed to be replaced from draining. We suggested that she offer a price that would be the amount off of what it would take to make those repairs/replacements OR fix those items and she would pay the asking price. She left in tears and told us how rude the owner was to her....I called the dealership to explain that was her first experience buying a car and also explain why she was asking him to come down in price (based on the value on Edmund's and the mechanics opinion and cost to repair the issues). After telling me "we don't care about Edmunds" he hung up on me.....I thought maybe my daughter was being overly sensitive when she called me in tears....apparently this is how they conduct business. Definitely do not recommend. Back to the drawing board we go.

DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE WHATSOEVER. Dave will act as if he's completely ignorant about cars as he states "I've just been selling them for 40 years." No one should be in a line of work for nearly half of a CENTURY and claim they know nothing. They knew the timing chain in an engine with less than 90k miles had damaged the engine. If you truly want a vehicle from this place, take it for an inspection and argue that you will pay 50% of the tag or else you will be repairing it for nearly the amount you purchased it for.

Do not purchase a vehicle here. I took my son here to buy a jeep. After a week of driving it, it started having problems. Now we have spent more money and time getting this into a mechanic. It has been a horrible experience.

Dishonest. Purchased a used car in April, paid in full. They sold it to us illegally without a title. Gave us a copy of the MI application for title transfer but never submitted it since they don't have the title. Have been telling me for a month that it was lost, they are applying, they are expediting, etc. when I call to ask. I have filed a fraud complaint with the MI dept of state. I waited this long to post a review hoping it was a mistake and they would make it right but 8 weeks after purchase they are not even bothering to call me with updates. At this point I'm contacting lawyers and looking in to small claims court as the dealer has resolved nothing. Oh and the clutch failed 2 days after purchase. Our fault for not doing a fill inspection and it was purchased "as-is'...but now we've sunk a couple grand into repairing a vehicle we can't legally drive or sell. Do not do business with them.
