The Good Car Dealer

About 1,500 miles into having my Subaru Crosstrek and love this car! I am really surprised by some of the reviews but it’s seems like people are confusing Scott with another dealer. I felt he was very honest and didn’t pressure us into anything.

After I bought my car, I told Scott I was going to leave him the best review he would ever receive. I don't know if I can live up to that promise, but I'll try. I had had a string of bad luck with cars. Even after doing everything "right," researching reliable brands and models and having a mechanic inspect it prior to purchase, I still ended up with a lemon that sucked away thousands of dollars over the next few years, with problems starting only weeks after I'd bought it. To top it all off, my daughter totaled the car only two days after she got her driver's license (thankfully, she was okay.) I was so nervous and skittish when it came to choosing another car. Scott dubbed it "car buying trauma." And he took the time to help me through it! He showed me photos of the car I was considering in the condition he found it in. He carefully explained potential problems, what he screened for, and what he repaired and replaced. He taught me what to look for when buying a used car that went beyond the advice I'd found online. He showed me how I could have caught the problems that my previous mechanic had missed. During the test drive, he walked me through more tests and checks, beyond the list of standard recommendations I ran through. He explained what he does to make sure he feels confident that he is selling a good car. He explained how he makes sure there is enough room in his budget to properly fix up a vehicle, rather than doing only the bare minimum to make a profit. His explanations rang sincere - not like sales pitches. I believe he wants to sell cars that are truly in good condition. Scott seems to be the person you'd hope for when buying a used car. Honest, knowledgeable, thorough, invested in the craft, and only satisfied when his products meet his high standards. Like he lives up to his company name. I am so grateful I found him, and I give him my highest recommendation.

I'm someone that knows very little about cars and I'm inexperienced when it comes to buying them. When I found myself in the market for a new (to me) car, I was wary of used car sellers due to the common dishonesty and shady practices that I've experienced before. I did not feel that way at all at the Good Car Dealer and with Scott. This establishment isn't in the business of selling you lemons, predatory loans, or forcing a warranty on you. I felt confident that Scott is an honest dude selling cars that he has checked over for safety and longevity. He heard me tell my friend that I had wished my next car had a backup cam/bluetooth audio, and a few days later he had found a sound system for sale on FB Marketplace. He paid for most of the installation as well as replacing a speaker at no cost to me. He knew I was already buying the car, and had no reason to go above and beyond besides just being a good guy. Plus, this dealership offers a free warranty of 100 days/1000 miles where if you find something wrong with the vehicle, his dealership will cover repairs. I would recommend this dealership to anyone in the SLC area looking for a new ride. I love my little Subaru, I'm really happy with my experience and purchase!

I recently bought a car from Scott and I would totally recommend buying a car from him. First and foremost he is the first car dealer I have ever dealt with that did not lie to me. He was knowledgeable and no pressure. He did everything he said he would, and the car was exactly as he described it. He took care of everything he said he would, and even did a few extra things. I have never before bought a hail damaged car, but I am very happy so far with the car. Scott was awesome and honest.

The owner of a Utah used-vehicle lot called The Good Car Dealer has been charged with 15 felonies after allegedly falsifying paperwork to resell $2 million worth of cars damaged in a severe hailstorm last summer. In one case, Scott Pryor is accused of forging the signature of a woman who had died eight months earlier. “It would have been impossible for [the woman] to sign the duplicate title application,” an investigator for the Wyoming Department of Transportation wrote in an 11-page criminal affidavit against Pryor. Wyoming began investigating Pryor after officials in the Laramie County Clerk’s Office identified 15 “very odd” applications for replacement titles, the Cowboy State Daily reported this month. If I was in the market for a new car I'd be looking elsewhere.
