I had a great experience buying a 2014 jeep from y city. I found an issue with the front drive shaft, it wasn't constant and I only found the issue doing a specific maneuver, aka it wasn't something they were hiding, it's an easily missed fault. I still wanted to buy the jeep and they offered to lower the price as is(I'm a mechanic) or I go have lunch while they replace it, I took option B and was gone for about an hour and when I got back it was replaced and ready to go. They own the mechanic shop across the street but I was still impressed how quickly they replaced the part and resolved the issue. They were very fair with the pricing and I appreciate carter's no pressure negotiations. It's a Family business, mom, son, and dad running the detail shop, mechanic shop, and car lot, I love owner operator businesses. I see a lot of bad reviews but this is a lot selling late model used cars, after 100k miles its a crap shoot.. always buy a warranty! Another awesome point, they sell the warranty at cost!! Most dealers mark them up $500-$1000. It was $950 for a 24 month 30,000 mile warranty I'm sorry but if you're buying a 100k+ mile car that's 10 years old and you don't spend a few extra hundred dollars on a warranty and it breaks down 6 months later you're crazy to blame the dealer. Don't be fooled by the bad reviews, I don't buy late model cars, I bought this only to tow behind my RV so no point in buying new but if I ever need another vehicle in this category I'm calling Carter!

So here’s one a little more detailed so your customers can see I was recently in the market for a specific GMC truck and found one listed on Facebook Marketplace from Y City Auto Sales. My initial contact was with a representative named Karter, who had a very dry demeanor. While he did send me pictures of the vehicle, his lack of enthusiasm and salesmanship was evident. Given the specific questions I asked about the 2012 GMC Denali HD with a gas motor and 137,000 miles, I expected him to be knowledgeable and engaged. After a long 6.5-hour drive from the Washington, DC area to Zanesville, Ohio, I arrived at the dealership only to be met with silence. A woman in the office informed me she was unsure of Karter’s whereabouts, only that he had just left in a white truck. When I mentioned I was there to look at the GMC, she told me he would return shortly. When Karter finally pulled up, I introduced myself, but instead of greeting me or asking about my long drive, he simply handed me the keys and went inside the dealership. There was no common courtesy, such as offering me a drink or asking if I needed to use the restroom. I proceeded to inspect the truck, reiterating my primary concerns about rust. Although Karter had sent some photos, they didn't adequately show the vehicle's true condition. Upon closer inspection, I noticed peeling rubberized undercoating, significant surface rust along the frame, and the spare tire completely rusted out. The rear driver-side fender was also rusted and filled with body filler. When I entered the truck, I saw a warning light on for the parking sensor. Karter dismissed it, saying it was an easy fix and they had simply cleaned it and plugged it back in. He mentioned that it was just a $30 part I could buy if I decided to purchase the vehicle, effectively passing the burden of repair onto me despite the truck being advertised as being in decent condition. I took the truck for a test drive on Route 70 East. As I tried to accelerate, I quickly realized the truck wouldn’t shift out of fifth gear. Frustrated, I returned to the dealership to inform Karter of the issue. He responded by saying that other people had driven it and hadn’t mentioned any problems. I expressed my disinterest in the vehicle at that point, but instead of engaging further or offering an apology, he simply took the keys and walked away—seemingly annoyed that I wasn't going to buy the truck. I sat in my car for about 15 minutes, reflecting on my experience and drafting this review, when Karter returned and insisted that he had just driven the truck without issues and urged me to take him for a ride to replicate the problem. Reluctantly, I did so, taking him down a road where I could finally get up to speed. Unfortunately, due to ongoing construction on I-70, it took some maneuvering to accelerate past 50 mph. As I shifted from fourth to fifth gear, the truck exhibited a strange noise and the traction control light illuminated, followed shortly by the check engine light. During the drive, Karter mentioned that it was unusual because he had towed a Mustang a couple of hundred miles using the same truck. However, upon inspecting the tow hitch and surrounding areas, I noticed everything was spray-painted, possibly to conceal previous damage or rust issues. Overall, my experience at Y City Auto Sales was incredibly disappointing. Clearly, they are selling subpar vehicles. After spending 6.5 hours and nearly $100 on fuel just to get there, Karter handed me $100 as a gesture of apology—covering just one way of my travel and not accounting for my time, food, or the experience itself. I strongly recommend staying far away from this dealership, as it seems their positive reviews are likely paid for rather than genuine.
