First time booking with A1 Auto Hawaii in salt lake across target and I loved it! Totally of the normal path of where I usually rent with at the airport but I will definitely be back! Jennifer at the counter desk was knowledgeable & super friendly! The shuttle driver named Lee was also kind & friendly and embodied the ALOHA SPIRIT!!! I loved that there was no extra hold on my credit card like how there is at other businesses and they have the best lowest rates that can’t be beat! Go check them out!!

Had to find my insurance coverage/declarations though which was annoying, so be sure to have that handy if you don't want to buy extra insurance. Otherwise pickup and return was easy, including their airport shuttle service. Vehicle was a 100k miles Corolla but it had the backup camera and had no issues w/it, and good value for the price. In comparison, I rented a nicer vehicle at Hertz by the airport the prior week, but it took an hour after pickup time before it was actually ready.

They charged me $55 extra for arriving a bit later than the reserved pickup time for a completely prepaid booking, saying they had to hold the car for me. I read the reviews upon arriving at the yard and knew I didn’t want to waste my life arguing with them, so I just accepted and disputed with the credit card company later. Afterwards, we got a beat-up car that had the low tire pressure light on. I asked them to pump the tire which they did, but the car just drove like it can fall apart anytime. After I dropped my family off at the hotel, I didn’t feel safe driving the car, so I decided to just book Turo, and return the beat-up car early, not letting it ruin my whole trip. I am super glad I took the loss, because on the way of being the car back, the low tire pressure light came on again. Turns out it had a leaky tire. Who knows what else is wrong with the car. The whole ordeal cost me $3xx and 3 hours of precious vacation time, but I am happy I cut my losses and chalk it up as a lesson learned. Do everything you can to avoid this business. I also fault travel agencies for continuing to allow this business to be a vendor.

Avoid this place at all costs!!!! Worth spending the extra money while you're in hawaii! They are scammers! First, the rental place isn't even in the airport you need to take a shuttle. Second, they take about 30 minutes to give you a car because theres only 1 employee at a time. Third, they give you an old car with over 100k miles and in terrible condition and smells bad. Lastly, they will CHARGE you a $78.54 fee for ANY sand in the car. Thats right! If your car is not impeccable inside, they will charge you a fee days later WITHOUT telling you the day of. DO NOT COME HERE!!

This company is shady! Avoid at all costs. First, they are VERY far from the airport. While there's a shuttle, it's a bit of a trek to get to the pick up spot, and no signage. So you're lucky if you even find it. Second, the driver and staff are all so rude. Not what you would expect from the island. Third, all their cars are old beaters, nothing like in the photos. Forth, I have insurance coverage on my credit card and got into a small fender bender. They immediately charged me $3,000 USD when I dropped it off without providing an quote or estimate documentation. I needed that documentation for my claim, without it, the insurance refused to pay. After dozens of attempts to get ahold of anyone through calls, voice mails, emails... even the insurance company tried getting ahold of them, they never respond. So now I'm out $3,000 USD for something that was not my fault due to them.
