Don Bailey Auto Sales

In the past 30 years, I have purchased several cars from Don Bailey's, and every one has been exceptional, except for one. That one was a Chevy 1500 truck that began to knock in the rear end about 2 months after my purchase, so I took it back. I was very surprised when Steve took the truck back, provided me with a demo car, and had mine back in about 10 days. Their commitment to customer satisfaction was beyond anything I expected. This car lot actually holds special meaning for me, as it’s the same place my father brought me to buy my very first car.

This is an outstanding family-owned and operated business that consistently delivers outstanding communication and customer service. The attention to detail and care they provide is evident, as they have earned multiple repeat customers—an undeniable testament to the quality of their service. Highly recommended!

I would not recommend NOBODY to Don Bailey Auto. I recently purchased a car in march 3, 2024 from them and paid 9,000 cash. If someone spends 9,000 they want a reliable car and not junk. The very next day the check engine light came on and I called to tell them it was on. He advised me to bring back the car so he can see but the light went off. I went back home. The day after that the light came back on again and I called and Steve saw the light was on. I took the car to Midas to get a service and they told me what was wrong. I showed Steve the paper and he said he got that part fix what was showing on the paper. I kept driving it. Later in march I got an oil change. April 12, 2024 the car was shaking and knocking real bad. Come to find out wasn’t no oil in the car so the oil change people did a free oil change and said it wasn’t any leaks. After I got the oil change it was still doing the same thing. Steve told me he would get a motor from the junk yard and I pay labor. I agreed to that. On May 15,2024 we’ve called me and told me he wasn’t paying for anything because nothing was his fault. So he said I have to pay 3,000 to get the car fix after I gave him all my tax money. They sell cars as is because they know they cars are bad. I didn’t know anything about Don but everyone gave me great reviews on how good of a person and his cars was but apparently they are not good cars. I wouldn’t recommend nobody to them. I will be letting everyone know they are cars is not reliable. These people are money hungry. I should have know when Steve offer to take me all the way to Dothan to my bank and I reside in Phenix City just to get rid of the car.

UPDATE: Vehicle has been undriveable for 2 months. I'm over $1000 into it between mechanic electric diagnosis and parts. I've tried multiple times to contact this dealer to give them a chance to make this right but have only been met with excuses or to take it to their mechanic which I refuse to do because they were the ones to hide the issue. Not once did dealer offer to reimburse any costs because "it worked when they had it". It worked because it was an intermittent issue they got to go away long enough until sold. The issue was always present, just didn't rear it's ugly head until it chose to. An honest dealer would have disclosed the vehicle had an electrical issue previously.... ORIGINAL: Long story short, purchased vehicle end of January and been unable to use car due to mechanical issues. Dealer said that he would trust every vehicle to drive to California! ugh. Test drive was great and it drove great for about 4 days before an intermittent issue arose. After having the vehicle for the last 60 days, I am thinking that they did what they needed to hide the issues long enough to sell it. At dealership I was told no issues but after calling them I was subsequently told that they had electrical issues and changed a sensor. Still having issues I called and was then told that they "flashed the computer" because there was a dash light that kept coming on. Why wasn't this addressed before the sale. I am awaiting a part to try and resolve the issue but think they fried or shorted the ECM when they did this. Now I am stuck with the vehicle that I cant drive normally and still paying a mechanic to help diagnose issues. It was an intermittent issue which is why there was nothing wrong at test drive and sale but the issue arose after the fact. Very shady business practice and I am not happy. If you knew there was an electrical issue then you should have disclosed it and at the very least should try to do more to reimburse me for the mechanic costs. Shame on you Don Bailey Auto Sales. I really trusted you guys.

Wish I could have benefit of the doubt for this company but this is the 2nd time my car has had problems where it would cost me an arm and a leg for what I purchased it for. I have had my car for less 5 months and i’ve already had to pay for over the amount I purchased it for because of it’s *hidden* problems that just kept randomly popping up. I truly wish I had the trust I did for this company when I purchased my car but now, I truly wouldn’t recommend anyone to them. It honestly feels like a scam. My car is always having problems and I had a problem with it the 3rd day after I purchased it so i’d be careful trusting this company.
