While I might have gotten a few hundred more selling privately, I found Carvana’s process to be well worth the difference. They handled the transaction smoothly and competently, and actually had a higher offer than my planned trade-in dealership and higher than the CarMax offer. Most of all, the paperwork process was all electronic with a quick Docusign. Painless. I saved a few bucks by opting to drop off the car at the local Carvana in Raleigh. I’m glad I did, the associates working there were attentive and nice. We also got to witness a family with kids taking delivery of their newly purchased car. The employees took great delight, as we did, in seeing the kids mesmerized by the “car vending machine”, and they included them in the process. It makes a big difference when the employees clearly love their job. It was a completely positive experience and I will use them again. And the money was in my bank account in 1 day.
Third time buying from Carvana—and this time, they got it RIGHT. I picked up a 2015 Toyota Camry Hybrid, and for the first time ever, I actually got the full vending machine experience. Dropped the coin in, heard the sounds, and watched my car come down like it’s supposed to… yeah, that was a moment. Big shoutout to Maurice—he really made the whole experience. From taking care of me start to finish, to snapping photos, he made it feel special instead of just another pickup. He’s a great asset to the Carvana team. On top of that, the car feels like a steal—super clean, drives amazing, still has that fresh car feel. If you’re in the RDU area, go to this Carvana location—and ask for Maurice. Trust me.
This was the WORST experience I’ve ever had - not just in the car buying prices, but in general customer service! Problems we had: The initial prices trying to purchase in mine and my wife’s name - not simple. This is built for ONE person purchasing. The financial process was TERRIBLE- causing us to have multiple different delivery dates. We had third party financing (Carvana’s rate for someone with excellent credit was nearly 9%…). We had a large down payment where we had to link a bank account (even though apparently it can’t be used). When the payment fails, the process shifts (even with all the money and them already receiving the loan funds). We were forced to get a cashiers check and call and send pictures. We FINALLY were able to get the financial piece solved at nearly two weeks into the process. OH - and we were carrying insurance on it the whole time because they require proof of insurance to release the order! Then comes the pick up appointment. We got a reminder call as we were turning the corner to arrive on Carvana’s vending machine property. Not helpful. A reminder call should have been MUCH earlier. We go in at our appointment time and start paperwork with someone who had no idea how to title the vehicle in two names. Had to go and start the title application all over after I gave them the instructions. We finish paperwork and get the coin to get the car out of the vending machine. This was the ONLY enjoyable piece of this process. Our kids loved it. Then the car comes out. A car we’ve now signed all the paperwork for, paid for, had on insurance. And it was a car that was unsafe. The tires were dry rotted. Legitimately. You could see the belt of the tire. And their response - “call silver rock or customer service.” We had an hour drive ahead of us - at 5:30 pm! And tires that wouldn’t get us there. We went to a tire store listed on the Silver Rock website and then spent the next hour and a half with the tire salesman and their representative on the phone u til they finally agreed to cover a portion of the tires. In all honesty - they covered about 50%. Because they wouldn’t put tires on that were towing capable. Only cheep tires - on a vehicle we’ve purchased WITH the tow package. It’s hard to believe that we purchased a car and within the first hour we had to put $600 (our portion) in to it. Oh. And the car was DIRTY. No real attention went into making it clean before purchase. I also requested a call from their senior leadership - who called ONCE while I was in an appointment. Said she would try again in the short message left - and it’s been DAYS without hearing back. So - my review? Thinking about purchasing from Carvana? RUN! PS - it won’t let me add pictures to submit.
⭐️ 1-Star Review: Carvana Sold Me a Dangerous Truck and Then Tried to Trap Me in It ****Reply from them is just another canned corporation response with empty words**** I’ve never dealt with a company as careless, deceptive, and downright irresponsible as Carvana. I purchased a 2019 Chevy Silverado with around 50k miles, expecting a truck that was “Carvana Certified” and “fully inspected.” What I received was a dangerous, neglected vehicle that should have never been on the road, much less sold at a premium. First red flag: the truck arrived wearing OEM tires—yes, the original tires from 2019—that were severely dry rotted with almost no tread left. These weren’t borderline. They were unsafe. Any legitimate inspection would have flagged them instantly. Carvana refused to cover the replacement under warranty, dismissing an obvious safety hazard. Then came the pre-purchase inspection, and that’s when things went from concerning to absolutely unacceptable: • No oil on the dipstick. Zero. Bone dry. How does a vehicle go through an “inspection” and get shipped to a buyer with no oil? • Tag lights not working because the wires were completely cut. Not frayed. Not loose. Cut. • A damaged, disconnected electrical pigtail harness hanging at the rear of the vehicle. No explanation. No warning. Just shoddy, unsafe, undisclosed damage. Realizing just how bad this truck was, I immediately started the return process—within three days, well inside Carvana’s return window. Instead of handling it professionally, they made the experience even worse. Carvana repeatedly refused to return my trade-in, even though I met all their requirements and notified them within the allowed timeframe. Every conversation was a runaround, every promise contradicted, and every attempt to resolve it turned into more stonewalling. It genuinely felt like they were trying to trap me in a defective truck by holding my trade hostage. They then coerced me to pay off the negative equity (over 3k) before they would schedule a return of the vehicle, while giving me no option to get my trade back. In short: Carvana sold me an unsafe vehicle, denied obvious warranty issues, and then kept my trade after I followed their return policy exactly. I will never buy from Carvana again, and I strongly recommend that anyone considering them take my experience as a warning. Their “inspection” is a joke, their warranty support is nonexistent, and their return process is a nightmare. Buyer beware.
Honestly, terrible experience. The purchase was easy, the delivery vending machine was cool. That's where the fun ended. The car was ROUGH, nothing like the picture, they did a great job making it look perfect. The car was FILTHY, like wax splatter everywhere, dirty and old wax streaks all over. Windows were barely see through. The headlights were crackle, yellowed and in rough shape, rough idle, brake rotors warped, large paint scratches and rims were badly curb rashes, and tires had big chunks taken out of the sidewall. First and last car I'll buy from Carvana!!
